Put the fun back in your hearing life. Instead of the back foot, leap forward onto the front one with this hearing gadget video, done and allowed by MyTechMyWay in the US. This guy clearly loves hearing and is very natural.  See a shaker jump! Fun hearing gadgets appreciated, that's what we like to see! You can get them on this website; we just couldn't resist the video:)

Do you have the hearing-aids with the funny new mushroom or tulip moulds?  (In the office we have tulips.)  Briefly they have very narrow tubing with soft plastic tips in those shapes.

You will understand how hard it was to get this right.  The first bit was heard as ‘bacon strain’.  When everyone else stopped laughing, the hearing-aid guy (sorted out hearing-aids for 10 years) showed a label.  Oh, okay.

To make it easier for you, join us at  Free Hearing Tips and have free fishing line plus masking tape sent to you.  Probably the most unusual offer you've had!  Unsubscribe or subscribe any time.  For DIY here's the specification:

You want:

Bayer Perlon Fishing Line

55 lbs Breaking Strain

0.7 mm (diameter?  Sorry no clue but, a fisherman will know or see our offer above.)

In response to a query about the supplied black and red tubes for cleaning, there was a tut of disgust and pearls of wisdom.

“Never use those.  Drop the black ones and they’re gone forever .  The red ones are too fiddly.”  He said.

Fishing line being transparent, he uses white masking tape to show it up.  Hopefully a picture will be up soon so you can see what it looks like.

Whatever, frankly, it is a hearing saviour.  Since Christmas really, I’ve thought the hearing was really going down this time and had already rung up for a hospital appointment.

When the guy heard about it, he said:

“Why didn’t you ask me to clean them for you?”

Ugh, every other possibility is tried first.  Besides there was no visible silt - see our article Silt In The River  .  Apparently it’s a two-minute job  with the ‘bacon strain’ fishing line.  Guys are great at doing it ;)  .  For DIY:

v  Take hearing-aid out of ear.  Hearing-aid guy insists on that instruction.  Wow, thanks, hard-of-hearing people are not daft!

v  Take the tubing off the aid and this is where the problem arises.  You might need an expert to do that for you.  Broken shoulders (the hard bit at the top of the aid) do not impress hearing-aid audiologists. They might make you buy another aid and that's in the NHS

v  If you manage that, insert the fishing line down the tube towards the mushroom/tulip mould and pop out the silt.

v  If you have an NHS or private hearing-aid you do this at your own risk.  Charities and the hospital do it for free.  Your hearing-aid audiologist might do it if you ask him nicely :)
